Are you keen to become a kaiako/teacher in an early childhood setting, a primary or secondary school?

Massey’s Graduate Diploma of Learning and Teaching provides a pathway.

The programme rests on a tūāpapa that forms our moral and ethical foundation:

He waka eke noa, he whānau aroha noa, he kaupapa puta noa

At the heart of this programme is the right for all to flourish. Te Tiriti o Waitangi is the waka that carries us on our learning and teaching journey. This programme reflects the dynamic, complex and responsive nature of learning and teaching and fosters connectedness, courage, curiosity and creativity. Graduates will have an emergent sense of identity and efficacy to respond with care and aroha in all their interactions.

Welcome to our programme!

What are our graduates saying?

I have thoroughly enjoyed every paper in this course. I found the lecturers brilliant and distance learning particularly great given my home commitments. I have been singing Massey's praises! I know you in particular have put a huge amount of work into making the course what it is, so thank you for that - I am leaving this course feeling inspired and motivated to be the best teacher I can be.

Having a focus on the treaty. I found this embodied how the tutors taught us - I loved it. To be honest I knew little about the Treaty and how it can be reflected in education before I started the course. I feel I learned so much and feel confident I have a solid understanding as a result of the teaching on this course. I have even taken up doing my own reading to know more as I have found it interesting. Do not lose this aspect on your course!

All the assignments offer robust learning and challenge me as both learner and teacher (offering opportunities for ako).

Thank you for always supporting and believing in me. I hope you know the difference you are making to my learning journey and how much it means to me.
